Biometrics Exemption for Permanent Residence Applicants if Previously Completed Biometrics
Foreign nationals who apply, or have already applied, for Canadian Permanent Residence, whether in Canada or abroad, are exempt from the biometrics collection requirement if they have previously provided their biometrics within the last 10 years.

New public policy on biometrics collection!
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) just announced that biometrics will not be required for in-Canada temporary resident applicants. This is to recognize the disruption to such applicants in the country caused by COVID-19 as all Service Canada locations closed in mid-March.

The Immigration Division will be resuming in-person hearings on September 14, 2020.
Extension for temporary residents applying to restore their status
IRCC just announced that Temporary Residents who are in Canada and had their status expire on or after January 30, 2020 can now apply to restore their status until December 31, 2020.
